When it comes to quality of life, I am totally
uncompromising. The Delhi that we bequeath to our children must be
of such a high standard that people from other countries should
marvel at India’s achievements. Delhi must showcase the best of
India. Being a committed environmentalist, I will strive to reduce
pollution of Delhi’s air and water. Coercion will not pay,
encouragement of a disciplined lifestyle holds out the panacea. As
a doctor, I believe in forming an understanding the history of
each problem and involving the “patient” in his recovery. The
streets of Delhi must be safe for its women and the parks for its
children. Delivery of services from the state must be prompt and
reliable. Government hospitals must be made clean and efficient.
Education standards must be high and inexpensive for the common
man. Social justice must be ingrained in Delhi’s culture. |
